You know one of the thing that gets me about most of the "Proud Assyrians" is when they tell about the so called "horrible" things that Muslims have done to "Assyrians" and "Christians". Now, if someone is uneducated or just ignorant of a sitaution, I won't hold him accountable, but when one swears that he/she knows it all and makes such comments, I expect it to be supported with facts. I get people almost frequently that attack me for having accepted Islam. They always end up trying to persuade me that it is evil and all they can tell me is either the trash they hear on the news or the same old stories of Muslims killing Christians. When I ask them to specify, it's always the same. They mention 1915 and 1933 and try to persuade me as to how bad Islam is. They get their feelings hurt when I inform them of the truth to those incidents and label me as a traitor and all kinds of other things.

If that makes me a traitor to them, oh well I rather know and follow truth over my own prejudices, my desires or my relative's. They ask me "don't you feel horrible for your ancastors who were killed by Turks in 1915?" I tell them sure I do and I also feel bad for the Turks, Kurds, Azeris, Perssians Armenians and all others who lost people. It's not like the Syriac speaking Christians were the only ones to lose people during the period. There were deaths on all sides and it was mostly due to diseases, starvation, cold winters and other things. religion had nothing to do with, or at least not for the Turks and Kurds. The Turks had many centuries to annhialate every Assyrian and whoever else lived within it's territoryies but they didn't. Why did they suddenly to do so in 1915 when they could have for centuries before? The answer is very obvious and simple. In the past, we didn't volunteer ourselves to fight for Christians or white boys and we were loyal. Because we were loyal, we were given "Dhimmi" status and self government. The Bishops of the Syriac denominations even received pay from the Ottoman government. Christians and others served in high office positions and propsered the entire time.

The reason for 1915 and 1933 was the same people that we have today and they are hate mongers like Fred Aprim and others of that sort. People who write their prejudices out and get some fake publishing company to help them become "authors", but it's almost suicidal to step in the ring with such sources in comparison with real authors and historians who are valid and reliable. I will not and will never base my decisions in life based on my own prejudices or anyone elses. I am open minded to look at any sources or info and compare. That is what I did with the "genocide" and everything else. That is how I was able to make a correct decision and choice. I was raised with same prejudices as everyone else of my background. I decided to do some real research and it wasn't long until I figured out that Aprim and these nationalist are a bunch liars and not reliable. Hell they are not even historians. All one has to do is read a few sentences before we see that all their books are nothing but opinions and their own prejudices. If were to follow my own prejudices and my own desires, things would have been differen't but I was fortunate enough to be open minded and be willing to do research.

We may have our own views but we can't expect others to swallow our views or opinions not if it goes against reality and truth.
