If they real just "forgot" they were Assyrian, they must have done so very quickly because there are other historical accounts which are far older than Marco Polo yet they also make no mention of any "ASSYRIANS". They were never prevented from doing anything and with all this freedom they had there was no "Assyrian nation" at any time during this entire time. Nothing stopped them except they weren't really "Assyrian" and there is no such thing as an real "Assyrian identity". Sure we have these modern Christians who like to think they are fooling people but they are nothing more than a hoax invented by Christians just as Christianity itself is a big mess and hoax too. If there is an "Assyrian identity" today, there is also got to be a Chaldean, Aramean, Babylonian, Akkadian, Amorite, and other identities as well.
