Richard Dawkins made an interesting point....we may well have evolved with a gene for obedience.....if you think about it, it makes sense...a child who will not listen to basic rules, such as don't walk off that cliff...or saber toothed tigers aren't pets, wouldn't have survived...this is what gives parents way too much power, potentially, over their kids...as well as presidents and kings and priests...you may like having an obedient child...but what if a Hitler, or a Cheney takes over the controls?

Skepticism and revolution are essential to our survival as well....it's comforting to think you can trust and believe in authority figures...it gives you the illusion that everything is under control..that this is the "best possible of all worlds" and that if things weren't right, they wouldn't exist....saves so much time and effort and uncertainty....but it's bogus as well as dangerous...always was, always will be.

Sometimes it takes a major disaster to get people thinking...so, vote for Romney...Obama was a minor disaster...we need a much bigger one.
