...then you should understand the Eucharist as being actual, not symbollic. Ask your priests.

...not at all and as with most analogies; a bad one.

...if you're raised thinking of worms as food, you're not likely to understand how strange such food is to one who never ate any.

You people have come to have a soft-focus, cozy view of the Cross. You've forgotten what it was used for. Or, if you haven't, you've made into an object of veneration. Which, as I say, is a strange thing to do with an instrument meant only to kill slowly and most brutally. Cutting off someone's head is far more humane and painless.

To understand the true horror of theh Cross and how inappropriate it is to make a piece of jewelry of it all you have to do is substitute a rifle or hangman's noose for it. This is nothing like your soccer analogy...I'm not asking you to assume anything...to stand anything on its head. All I'm asking you to do is subbstitute one instrument used in executing criminals for another. That's all. That's all you have to "imagine".

And then I'm asking you what you, arrow, would think of a religion that made small, gold, rifles to hang round the neck of five-year olds. Or a golden noose...and, to carry it further without straining anything; to imagine a church which has a gallows above the altar from which hangs a bloody cadaver of an executed criminal.

I realize it's difficult to step outside of yourself and take a new look. But this is what maturity is after all. When I was a child I spake and acted as a child, but when I arrived at man's estate I put aside all childishh thhings. At least that's the way it should work.

You're saying there much more to the Cross than a device for killing people....like there's much more to soccer than pushing a ball around. But whatever "more" there is to the cross is what YOU have made of it. Whereas all it is, in reality, is an instrument of torture and murder....that you have made "more" out of it is exactly the POINT! That's where the trouble started...just as you've made more out of the murder of Jesus; turning it into, not only your passport to heaven, but an act of "supreme love". Here, too, you've made "more" out of murder...you've added "love" to it...and that, again, is the problem.

However you manage to turn and twist it around....Jesus HAD to be killed "for you"...for YOUR sin, or else you could not get into heaven. Murder is the pre-requisite for your religion. Of course you've made MORE of it. But at it's heart and core is murder, pure and simple...without all the frills and embellishmment. That your church has CHOSEN to dress it up and make more out of it is exactly the peoblem...I repeat.

Not only the first murder....but your final glory, your transcendance into heaven will be achieved through mass-murder...through Armageddon and the Apocalypse...which is nothing more than mass slaughter of unheard of proportions. Sure, you've dressed THAT up as well....you've made "more" out of it that mass-murder. And, again I say, that's exactly the peoblem, the biggest one, with Christianity....it starts with a murder and then goes on to decorate and expand it into mass-murder...and all of this confounded somewhow with "love".

I know it's hard to see from the inside. Most Mafiosos don't see anything wrong with the Mafia either. And the Mafia does "good" things too...and Mafia families have kind cousins who shun and abhor the Family business business...or try to put a spin on it or seek to make it legitimate. But we all know what it is at heart.

Your religion, quite naturally, seeks to embellish its beliefs and rituals...and those of yyou born and raised in it can't be expected to see it for what it is...the way outsiders do, or those who've freed themselves from its grip.

All that sais....it remains true that had Jesus not been murdered through a hit ordered by his own father of "love"....there would be no Heaven for any Christian.
