You know what else is interesting about that is the fact that the stories hear about our ancient ancastors show some very brutal people, yet God forgave and accepted their repentance. So, since God forgave them, and since God of the Judeo-Christian worls is merciful and loving then he accepts all sincere repentance. Many others before and after that came were much more evil, wicked and brutal, and to remember an ancient people only for violence is pathedic. The Romans were much more more brutal after the Assyrians. in fact, the Romans were even brutal after they became Christian and so have been many others. So, one can always repent sincerily and live a righteous life in order to succeed. In that case, either that means that modern Assyrians have not been doing the right thing in almost 2000 year, or their God is not so loving and forgiving after all. In the Islamic perspective, God is merciful and forgiving, but he also expects for a people to make effort and desire to what's right. In other words, he does not change a people until they desire to change themselves, but he does not force people to change, but he helps them only if they desire and want to do what is right and change.
