This author is commonly quoted by other historians as he is regarded highly. He also wrote about the supposed genocide of 1915 and is often used as a source for that. When you count how many mar shimuns were killed by assyrians, one begins to see what these people really are. In 1914, a mar shimun was murdered by his relatives for reusing to join up with the russians. Then it happened again in the 70s and who knows when else. But we are only reminded about that one who happened to be killed by simko. Just like fuad deniz is not regarded a martyr because his killer wasn't a turk or a muslim. There were two white men who damaged an assyrian church in chicago and there was no outrage by the heroes and "warriors" but they are quick to tell us about church attacks in iraq. Not all deaths are a tragedy to assyrians and to christians. Only those killed in iraq by muslims can qualify for martyr status.
