There is currently a bill laid out by Congressman, Ron Paul, and its purpose is to audit the Fed reserve. I think there needs to be an audit of this private bank and it even needs to be shut down. There is no need for it at all. This is a private central bank and the founding fathers stood in direct opposition to such ideas. This error was made in 1913 when the federal reserve was given power and this has caused nothing but trouble.
