After "The Sopranos" became famous on TV, there was a funny, few years of what I call Iranian-owned Italian restaurants with Latinos doing all the work. And like you say, these guys would sit outside in hot, August weather, in black suits, drinking tea, with new names like "Al" for Ali and "Jimmie" for Jamsheed, playing cards, instead of traditional Takh'ta, like they were in some third-rate gangster film. Of course, the trend always ended with the bank taking over their place, their cars... maybe even their suits, too. These are guys known for "khalee-bandy", meaning they build on bullshit. All of them are supposedly the sons and daughters of the same Colonel who was "Shah's right-hand man".
