- I was a little excited about Rev. Al, but not at the cost of losing Cenk... a horrible, deliberate choice by General CNBC.

- I totally agree about Rap: It's nothing close to the Watts Prophets, the Last Poets or any of the spoken word artists that came out the flames of the Watts Rebellion or the massacre at Attica or the murder of George Jackson at Soledad. I used to work at a record store where I would tell these younger kids that Rap is the antithesis of what little revolutionary element was left in Black expression. It's been defanged and robbed of its potential venom for change by million-dollar record deals, "bling and bitches", cars, "lettin' the haters in the hood know you the man," co-opted by all the shit-tricks the psychoanalysts working for Madison Ave. know how to use to manipulate the masses into obedient consumers of crap and producers of shit. I greatly respect a White friend of mine from Pittsburg who came to L.A. to start up a rock band in the realms of the old Stones or early Zeppelin. While homeless, couch-surfing and strung-out on bad drugs, he turned down a record deal, touring with a stupid copycat band that made a lot of money and faded in three years. Now, in his 40s, I still bring up the one major decision he made that got me to respect him immensely, because at a time when he was stealing and returning items for cash and heroin, he turned down a few hundred grand and a foothold in the scene, since his first gig with this palooka band was to open for former Black Sabbath singer, Ozzy Osbourne. Their handlers had already written the songs for the band, chosen the look of the band, what they may wear, what kind of characters they should portray, what to say during interviews, etc. They basically wanted mannequins to play dress up with to make a lot of money. It's a hard thing to turn down if you're broke, homeless with a habit, and your love and life is music. It's these little things certain people do that win my lifelong friendship and my deepest respect. I can't say what I would have done if I were him... probably the same. As far as White kids trying to act like rappers; well, it says very little about them when a great many of the "real Niggas" they're emulating are nothing but "real HOs" for the White producers who mold and shape them into what they think will sell an image and a whole lot of bad records. (And, yes, I still call them 'records' because I still purchase vinyl records at my favorite, hidden Jazz record store.)
