From the point of view of our Christians I think they resent the fact that Muhammad proved far more popular in that region than Christianity...I've always felt that Islam's martial spirit, by which I mean Muhammad's doctrine that if attacked, Muslims can certainly retaliate, no "turning cheek, nonsense, was more in line with ancient Assyrian values than Christianity...and by Christianity I don't mean love and peace...these were all alive and well long before Christ was born...Islam was not adopted or invented by the Emperor of a vast empire who was already militarily powerful, who perverted it into a mechanism to keep his vast realm under his spiritual thumb...but rather by a man, not pagan god, of humble origins with no thought at all to creating an empire. But...if his neighbors were hell bent on wipng him out,,,and if the Christian empire were hell bent on conquering his country, then by all means his followers would FIGHT! The same was said of the Assyrians, that they were lions in war, but lambs in peace.

Anyway, the demotion of Jesus Christ to second place has infuriated some Christian sects into insisting dirty tricks were involved...and for this, in order to explain the rapid growth of Islam, they've resorted to the kinds of lies and slanders we see in Jumblat and his ilk; because the truth of it is way too embarrassing...way too embarrassing to admit that, just as some chose Jesus, many more chose Muhammad later.

Muslims can be at peace because they are the dominant religion...to put it crudely they "won" in the quest for the allegiance of the people of that region...and they won fair and square...which really angers our Christians. If our Christians can find any evidence of Muslim "cruelty" and "intolerance" it comes well after the first 100 years which saw Islam spread from Mecca all the way to Spain, showing a kind of tolerance that certainly never existed among Christians in the West...and after that, any intolerance from Islam towards Christianity came about when western Christians decided to attack Islamic lands on behalf of their religion...when it was really a land grab. And that inevitably spilled over onto the local Christians who were seduced or lulled into believing their co-religionists would "do something" for them...and they still fall for this and it poisons their relations with their Muslim brothers and sisters.

And they're gearing up fpr more of the same when the Christians outside Iraq say they want to "help" the ones still inside. They are not really helping at all, rather they are using those people to maintain an "assyrian presence", for therm, which means nothing more than a Christian one...once again the Christians there will look for their safety and "salvation" coming from outside the borders of the Muslim countries they live in and this will cause more resentment, as it has every time in the past..and it will be THAT resentment which they'll then turn around anduse as "proof" that they are being persecuted so that the whole, dismal and bloody cycle will repeat itself over and over...when it's the most logical and normal thing in the world that Iraqi or Kurdish Christians, who receive aid from the western Christian nations who're still conducting this most illegal and inhumane war agsinst the people of Iraq, would be RESENTED for accepting help from the very people and nations that are destroying BetNahrain.

It all centers, I think, around the loss of Christian prestige in the MidEast...except our Christians never ask themselves WHY Christianity lost its status...and then why it became suspect..and, finally. where the resentment and then even "hatred" came from. Instead they like to say that Islam is "just like that", meaning violent and intolerant of Christianity etc....when any impartial study of history clearly shows that Islam is NOT like that but has certainly acted in any way it could to defend itself and has been slandered for it, just as the ancient Assyrians have been, because they were SO damn good at defending what they created and preserved and passed on. It is Islam's success which has made it hateful to Christians...not Islam itself...though it amounts to the same thing in practise.
