When one gets initiated in La Cosa Nostra, after the ritual ceremony of drawing blood and becoming bloodbrothers with a "Gumba", he must draw blood through murder to "make his bones" and be a "made man". Is there any difference with elected leaders?

One of my favorite lines from the Godfather is when Michael compares his father to a leader "like a senator" and Kay says "don't be naive Michael, senators don't have people killed"... "who's being naive, Kay?"

The other is when Don Corleone tells Michael he had differnet plans for him, hoping one day he'd become "Governor Corleone, Senator Corleone".. And Michael says "Pop, I'm not a pezzonavante" (a Big Shot)

Senator Obama, President Obama, has become a murderous pezzonavante!
