"Ever since we let go of Ashur we've been the world's whore"

Ameen to that my brother and I fully agree with this statement a 100%. I been thinking over this for a while now and even more since I ve come on here and I can't help it but to keep thinking about this. When I was one of those "Assyrian" fanatics about 7 years ago, I remember there was this Suryoyo brother who was denying the Assyrian identity and I couldn't take it. After a while I couldn't take it anyomore and I decided to challenge him and debate with him on the forum. He asked me what "proof" do I have to support my claims to being a "direct descendant of the ancient Assyrians". This was absurd to me of course since I thought I had a lot. So I began by telling him Our parents call themselves proudly "Assyrians", we use "Assyrian" names such as "Ashur" "Sargon" "Sencharib" etc. The brother totally humilated me with his reply. He told me how we don't speak "Assyrian", we didn't know ancient Assyrian history until foreigners dug things up, we don't have anything in common with the ancients and our ancastors only adopted the "Assyrian" name about a 100 years ago.

This was the point where I had faced reality and I was in a position where I could not support my pride or my claims and this led to me doing other research from other sources. I was all along denying his right to claim to be a "direct descendant of the ancient "Arameans" while I wanted everyone to be "Assyrian". But let's see for a moment who really has the most ligit claim out of all the Syriac speaking Christians. The Suryoye speak Aramaic, they mostly call themselves "Arameans", they are originally from the land of Aram(modern day Syria) and also from Tur Abdin, they have always called themselves Suryoye and Oromoye(Arameans) except for the few who been influenced by Nestorians and have now begun to call themselves "Oturoye" but that is recent as well.

It is totally differen't in our case. We don't speak the Assyrian language even though some love to Assyrianize everything by force. Today's Assyrians have nothing to do with the ancients except for the fact that they adopted the name only about a 100 years ago. They knew nothing about the ancients even a 150 years ago and they know hardly anything about their culture. If they did know anything about them, they wouldn't get terrified of hearing a so called Assyrian woman belly dancing while they refer to it as a purely "Arab" thing. Since they are proud Assyrians, they can not do such a low thing even though they bow down to westerners even if they are the most evil Christians ever.

I mean seriously, how do we expect these people to come on this great forum and make their case? What would they argue with? They would get Fred Aprim and Dadesho as their source. They know they get humiliated and they'll keep their trash on their "democratic forums" Since they are all "engineers", they don't have time to waste with Pancho and his group of "thugs" on InsideAssyria.com. They have such big mouths on their forums but are so shy of this one. I mean I am sure they have pleanty of evidence to show their "proud Assyrian ancastry" and they should have pleanty of proof of Muslim persecution, and genocides against the "Assyrian Christian Nation" to defeat us with. Oh well, the choice is theirs and it is they who are obviously running away from reality.

After thinking about all this over the last few years and especially the last few months, now I can see why they are in this situation that they are in. It's not others hating them, it's not genocides and their own screw ups but it is also because their case is not valid. Who would take such case serious? The Kurds fought and sacrificed their young men while they were all buying big homes in Californian and they think that the Kurds are obliged to take them serious or give them "special treatment" because of their own claims which they can't even support? Is this a joke or seriousness? They are supposed to just hand over land because Aprim claims the ancient Assyrians are his ancastors? What would that mean for the rest of Iraqis who also claim proud ancient Assyrian ancastry and heritage, can they also make special demands? I guess they got carried away and somehow think the "Assyrian" label is for them exclusively after the British named them so even though they don't take them serious either.

Thank you for the post and keep it up, InshaAllah.
