I was fortunate that finally in the 4th and 5th grades, my teacher was a Japanese American who as a young boy had tasted the Japanese internment camps of WWII. So, from that point on, I did have an authority figure on my side, who's own personal experience as a minority by far exceeded my own at the time, as far as blatant racism was concerned.

I also want to point out that Jews, Blacks, Latinos, and Asians were treated as badly as I was. The difference was that I fought back - they didn't. My father taught me psychological violence through physical means, that is, to fight back in self-defence and beat down the worst tormentor to make an example fixed in the minds of all the onlookers. One time and one person is enough. He had to employ the same methods while growing up in tough Muslim neighborhoods in Tehran. But he was lucky that there were already Assyrian and Armenian gangs, mostly boxers, who very quickly had established their dominance and even won over the respect and friendship of the Muslim hoodlums with whom they shared a neighborhood.

These days though, I find a good number of white Americans who are sick of the racists among their own, just as I'm tired of the bigots in my own family, and try to set them straight through reason. If they're not swayed by reason, then I just have to walk away from them. I'm not a violent person and I surely don't advocate violence, unless my life, or that of others, is on the line, then self-defence is the natural human resonse.

Hopefully humanity will collectively evolve to where violence will not even be an option. But when the leaders of the "civilized free world" keep reiterating "that everything is on the table," then what can on expect from the societies they represent, when the use of force is always the means to achieve their political ends?
