Agreed. One of the worst things I disliked in a 10th grade high school History class was a quote by Calvin Coolidge: "The business of America is business." Man, I couldn't stand that quote each time I'd sit at my desk and the first thing I'd see on the wall was this mural quotation. I was perturbed because as a 16-year-old I understood what the quote meant. Basically, the bottom line is the the only line: MONEY! No empathy, no internationalism, no camaraderie, no nothing but "I got mine... Fuck You!" Then afterwards the opposite was pushed onto our (mine) mind: Christianity, treat your brother as you treat yourself, etc. It's a joke! --------------------- |
