Iran isn't that tolerant, either. If two boys, or a boy and girl are found together and upon examination there is sign of anal penetration... it's their ASS! They don't tolerate sodomy, straight or gay. They hanged the last few young men (I'm not sure if it was for rape or consensual sex, but sometimes they just slap them with a rape and hang them). It's horrible. But in the early '80s a young man approached Khomeini and asked if transexuality was permitted by Sharia, and when the Ayatolla searched throughout the Quran and there was no mention of it. So he issued a fatwa that made it legal for boys and girls to get sex-change operations. The problem is that some of the boys don't want to have a sex change, they want to remain as men, but gay men. So there are cases of of depression, drug use and suicide among a the newly he/shes. --------------------- |
