Just real quick, this guy is totally missing the point. He states that Assyrians were not all wiped out after the fall of their empire, and rightly so, but nobody has ever made such statements. Just like Babylonians, Akkadians and Sumerians were not all wiped out, the same is true of people of Assyrian origin. Speaking Syriac language and being Christian does not prove or mean the person is related to the ancient Assyrians. The language was adopted my many people and so was the religion.

Even the Egyptians and Persians could speak Aramaic but that don't make them Assyrian or Aramean for that matter. The writer also mentions the Assyrian homeland as being the entire empire, and that's like saying all of Europe belongs to Italians of today. The ancient Assyrians originated out of Iraq. The rest of the lands, including Syria, Lebanon, etc, were conquered by the Assyrians, but those lands had other people in them. Urmia is not the land of Assyrians. Even the Nestorians and other Christians who have lived there are not the only inhabitants of the area. There are Kurds, Azeris, ethnic Persians and others who are also native to the area. Syria was the land of the Arameans(Syrians) and Assyrians conquered them as well and all the way to Egypt at one point.

Again, this author is doing the usual and I am curious to know what his field of expertise is. Being "involved" doesn't mean he's good at it or knows what he's talking about. We have seen lingusists and engineers writing about history and "publishing" books but we know what they are. We know who Durant is and we post the name of the books which are recognized in the world of history. Who is this Nicholas Aljeelo besides someone who lives in Australia and claims to be Assyrian? What is his profession and what's his certification?
