...religion and superstition were fine so long as they remained private affairs...but the religious insist on mainstreaming their beliefs and turning our laws into their sharia laws...that's a very different thing, I mean among Christians. It's hard to tell a Christian fundamentalist from an Islamic one any more....

...it is no longer ok to "respect" people's religious beliefs....not so long as they don't respect science and actually knowing things....it is a cancer, it is rot....we don't have to actively attack religion but people should no longer expect a pass when they spout this nonsense, their views should not be "respected"...because there is nothing there to respect...people of low intelligence and no education have found relief in believing the god of the universe loves them...it makes them feel "special" where their grades on math tests and in science make them feel dumb and stupid...it's a short-cut to personal gratification and self-worth which actually skips both and goes right to the throne of god.

..I mean of what good is it to be physicist who doesn't believe in religions as compared to a janitor who is close to god?

...at the least laugh in their faces...let their religious beliefs no longer be a short-cut to actual achievement and instant respect and deference just because they believe the story of the "Three Little Pigs", or "Jonah and the Whale" is "revealed scripture".
