I forgot to add the point I was attempting to make. So the consumer society's second-nature is dictated by the corporate PR machinery and Madison Ave, which overtly, subliminally, and in discovering every single human weakness, offers the guise of liberation to buy things, new things, big things. Three thousand of our countrymen and women died, terrified, incinerated, jumping out of the towers... and our leader tells us to go shopping, or else the terrorists win. New gadgets appear on the market faster than my last bowel movement. This is what Gore Vidal meant about the U.S. of Amnesia. Fuck history! Is what some girl told me. It's so boring. Embrace the new, out with the old, in with the new, breath and don't forget your mantra: I need to buy those new shoes. I will visually have those shoes. I will manifest those shoes on my feet. The Secret. Magical thinking. This is the world in which we inhabit, where half of the people are stupid, and the other half, mad. I stay on the sideline... a bit closer to the mad, crazy ones... they're more interesting.
