Also at a convention in Detroit many years back, after the Fire Marshal got sick and tired of responding to false alarms at the Sunday banquet, the ballroom was closed early and permanently...the Assyrian heroes and their heroines were grumbling outside about how this was another example of the persecution, discrimination and second-class "dhimmi" status their ancestors had suffered for centuries and they were just not going to stand for it any longer...one fellow in particular was the leader and was inciting the rest of "fight back"...this was after a few days of such nonsense and by this time the hotel security had been authorized to take off the gloves.

Also at this convention I had become a little firnedly with the security chief, a tall black fellow who turned out to be fascinated by ancient Assyrian history and enjoyed the sculpture I had on display.

When the leader of this pack of heroes got too loud and insistent, the security chief gave the go-ahead to take him down...which two secutiry men did rather quickly and easily. He found himself pinned to the ground and then cuffed and lifted off his feet and carried to the security offices where the police were sent to take him in. Needless to say none of his Assyrian "brothers" did anything but watch, meekly, as their leader was hauled off.

I had reason to go to the same office a few minutes later and will never forget the sight of this hero of ours...he sat wimpering, tears running down his cheeks, begging to be allowed to go home and apologizing furiously...saying somehting, I am sure, like..."did you think I actually MEANT anything". He was a pathetic, embarrssing sight and I wished the earth had swallowed him up long ago. No doubt he was trembling in particular fear of what his mother would do to him.

And also no doubt, he and Fred Aprim would excuse his behavior by saying..."what do you expect of us after centuries of Muslim PERSECUTION?"

Well....Afro-Americans have suffered more real persecution and third-class status than our boys EVER did...and it didn`t turn their leadership into cowards and crybabies.
