religion and capitalism go hand in hand and they are partners. Capitalism is a already a religion and it's merged with religion. Worship money is the way. The US dollar says "in god we trust" and this is the religion of the capitalist. Christians are capitalists too and many Muslims also. That's why the Afghans and any jihadist will team up with Christians before teaming up with communists even the Marx's teachings are far more humane and closer to Muslims than capitalism is. People worship something weather it's a money, sex, a deity, etc. In the case of Hitchens, money is his god and also the god of his Christian nation. I despise religion just as much as capitalism and I see both of them the same. The only difference with Islam is I can't completely knock on it because helping the poor and giving is a major part of the religion. That is why there aren't any homeless people even in the poorest Muslim countries. It is a crime in Islam for a person to be prevented from basic needs such as clothing, food and shelter but Christian nations have gone beyond that and turn people into criminals.

My stupid co-workers were terrified 2 days ago because a bank next to my job got robbed and there was a bomb threat involved. I was the only one not shocked at all because this expected when a person has been brought to his knees. In capitalistic societies and America in particular, one will literally starve without working like a slave for many hours. I don't get what the big fuss about capitalism is but I guess it helps a few stay and get extra wealthy on the expense of the majority. Why do these people hate Islam so much or see it as a danger? Because it won't allow that. In the Ottoman empire, Muslims would be jailed if they neglected the zakat and that's the correct Muslim way. Thsi may sound harsh but it's an obligation to take care of the poorer in society and it is also a crime for a person to live under bridges while people drive by him and mock him/her. That's a crime to me also and I blame capitalism for that.
