They can't seem to choose. They want to be recognized as pure descendants of Ashur, yet as all 100% Christian. is Assyrian an ethnic community or a religious one. The can have of the two but not both. Not all Indians are Hindus, and the Hindus do not reject non Hindu Indians. Same with any other group. As for Assyrians, one seems to cease to exist as an Assyrian the moment one becomes non Christian especially not Nestorian. That is strange. German historians and most historians do not confuse todays Christians of Iraq with the ancient Assyrians but view them as a group of Nestorians who accepted this name after it was revived by British. Why do Assyrians dispute this if that is the case? how can an entire race be depending on religion. People choose different beliefs all the time that don't change them. Islam is growing rapidly among westerners does that make them un American, German, English, etc? Therefore, why is that the case with Assyrians? It will not accomplish anything. Either they are Christian Iraqis or Assyrians and that means accepting others no matter what belief. I have heard some tell me that anyone who accepts another belief, way or religion, has betrayed Assyria and can no longer by Assyrian.

The question worth asking is, were the ancient Assyrians Christians? did all Assyrians choose Chrisatianity by choice peacefully and were they the first Christians? the answer to the above questions are all NO. Unfortunately the history of todays Assyrians is mostly written by the prejudice church members and they have done a great job manupilating their members and intimidating them while destroing other evidences. However, for the sake of truth, honesty, and the Assyrians, it is fair to set the record straight. Assyrians were not the first to accept Jesus(pbuh) unless they mean they converted to orthodox Judaism. Jesus came to his own people, he was a prophet and the final messiah to the Jews. Those Jews who accepted him, did not differ from the rest of the Israelites who didn't accept him. The difference was only with recognizing Jesus. He never preaches, nor spoke of a different religion nor one for all humanity. His first and only followers were the few Israelites who accepted him. They continued following their regular religion and practices. The term Christian was never heard or used by Jesus nor his real followers but it was an insult used by the pagans long after his departure. When the Europeans decided to accept this religion, they killed ans got rid of the real followers of Jesus and destroyed their writings, and started forming this new religion. Constantine was looking for a religion to unite his epire which was under a lot of conflict, so he saw this as perfect. It was not until after the 4th century ce, that Christianity became what it is.

Therefore, it could not have been accepted by Assyrians rightaway. It wasn't until after the 4th century that it was accepted and it wasn't by choice. It was brought by force, pressure and any means. Even after it came, many Assyrians continued to practice Ashurism even after that despite the persecution and harassment. There is no way tyhe proud Assyrians would have just so easily bowed down to this new religion, by choice and trade in their culture, belief, customs identity and everything else by choice and peacefully. They were too proud and too brave. So there were other means that it was introduced.

I am not trying to attack or insult the Christians, but it is only fair to get the record straight. Christianity was never and should never be used to identify someone. They can have one or the other. Either one is Christian and therefore, an Iraqi Christian wgile Assyrian is just like Jacobite, Chaldean etc, or one is Assyrian and act like it. Belief should not detrmine or exclude someone. One has the choice to choose the belief regardless which one. It is God who will judge that person anyways in the end. So a Christian can in no way deny a non Christian from claiming to be a descendent of any of the ancient Mesopotamian people. In fact, most Iraqis have some kind of Mesopotamian blood. There is no way only the Christians of Iraq who chose this name in the last century are the true 100% descendants of Ashur and everyone else is not. No Greek claims to be 100% of Plato and the ancients, nor do the Turks, or the Egyptians. That is natural that people are descendents but not purely 100% from the time of the fall of Assyria until this day. It is illogical.

My brother Pancho u do a great job and may God bless you and keep you strong. They need more like who speak truth and is just. They can never achieve their goal with being prejudice, hateful, narrow minded, liars, and betray their countries each and everytime. They choose to cite with their Christian brethren everytime simply because of their hatred for Muslims, and after their brethren forsake them they cry about being persecuted because of their Christian faith. All the conflicts between them and their Muslim neighbors comes in the last century and each and everytime it is related to their brethren and their own actions. The Turks were killing them because they were Christian, but it was rather national security reasons, and it's not like the Turks were religious. But according to the hatemongers, all the fighting is due to their Christian faith which is a big lie. They are going to have to chose between behaving or continuing to look stupid for their prejudice actions.
