One of the 14 victims, Bennetta Betbada, was an Assyrian woman from Iran. She was a friend of a friend of my cousin's. Apparently, she "fled her native country of Iran at the age of 18 to escape the violent persecution of Christians that followed the Iranian Revolution, the family said in an emailed statement". I'm sorry, but there was no "violent persecution of Christians that followed the Iranian Revolution". If that was the case, then all of my Assyrian relatives who live in Iran, including my girl cousin who's lived on her own since the revolution and will never leave Iran, would all have been persecuted. The only persecuted group were/are the Baha'i because the Shah had made them his political base and placed them in high positions, one of which was that of Prime Minister (Amir-Abbas Hoveyda), the other was a second or third-in-command of the S.A.V.A.K. Also, the Baha'i were viewed as being too friendly with the state of Israel, which gave the Baha'i protection by inviting them to live there as a persecuted minority. The other reason being that Muslims view the Prophet Muhammad as the last of the Abrahamic messengers (the last of God's prophets) and whomever was to come after Muhammad and declare to be a prophet or a messenger, like Baha'u'llah or Joseph Smith or L.Ron Hubbard, was/is considered a fake prophet, somewhat like the way in which Jews view Jesus as the fake Messiah, and Christianity as a slap in the face to Yahweh's true instructions to the chosen tribe with whom he (it) made a covenant.

Anyway, this was just out on the Daily Beast:

Attorney: Syed Farook Was Mocked for His Beard

Suspected San Bernardino gunman Syed Rizwan Farook had "no friends" and was mocked by his co-workers for his beard, attorneys for the Farook family said on Friday. "There was information about the fact that his co-workers kind of made fun of him, for example, for his beard," counsel David Chesley told the press. "He was a very isolated introverted individual with really no friends that we could identify. Like maybe one friend or no friends."
