Like the story of Abgar the so-called repentance of the Ninevites, when called to account by yahwe, he who shed rivers of innocent blood but couldn’t inspire a Lamasu if his life depended on it, is nothing more than an insult to the Assyrians with a smarmy effort at self-congratulation and a whitewashing of their own ineptitude by the mortally envious Hebrews…who managed to hate and malign the most civilized people of that day; the Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians and Persians.

There is no more to celebrate in Abgar’s converting his Assyrians to Judaism(myth though it be) than there is in the notion that the glorious people of Nineveh had ANYTHING to apologize for, especially to that sheepshit-herding tribal god a passel of unwashed Hebrews found on a refuse pile. No one knows when these fairy tales were actually written down or even invented but one thing is certain, no Assyrians EVER celebrated the Rotation assigned to them by the Hebrews.

It was Jews who found a soothing balm for their inferiority in that mythic account of how a whale swallowed Jonah whole, which isn’t all that significant since everyone else went and swallowed them BOTH. The story was supposed to show how magnanimous and forgiving that insane god could be if only you groveled enough at his feet…and what better people to claim groveled for forgiveness than the Assyrians…who never groveled at any god’s feet and weren’t about to do it in front of THAT thug.

The people who celebrate this feast day of remembrance, probably by swallowing who knows what else whole, are the Christians of every stripe and nationality and ethnic origin…and one group of Christians who does so are those who call themselves Assyrians but who aren’t…as the world knows. They like to claim that whenever any so-called Assyrian Christians celebrate the Rotation it shows “proof” that they’re “remembering their Assyrian ancestors”..which is SUCH a crock that naturally Minime believes it…is it any wonder?

It’s as if to say that by celebrating the Fourth of July you prove yourself a direct descendant of Benjamin Franklin…I mean REALLY!!!
