Empires consist of different peoples who come under one rule and are granted citizenship. For example, There were Jews, Pagans and others who were lawfully Roman citizens and not only religions but even different ethnic groups, The same can be said about the ancient Assyrians, Babylonians, etc. There were a verity of peoples who lived in Assyria and spoke the language. People mix and marry from others so it is impossible to stay pure. The Assyrian king Shamshi Adad was of Amorite descent yet he was king of Assyria. Hamurrabi is another example who was king of Babylon while being of Amorite descent. Nebuchetnazzer was not purely Babylonian either but he had a Chaldean father and an Assyrian mom. This goes for the rest as well.

Now I find it hard to believe that a people will just suddenly forget who they are or even worse lose interest in their heritage and identity. I don't think anyone in the right mind would lose interest in being a direct descendant of the ancient Assyrians who had such great success and history. There wasn't even an Assyrian identity few centuries after the fall of the empire let alone at the time when we are told the ancients embraced Christianity few centuries later. Embracing a new religion is no excuse to forget one's own ethnicity, identity and history. The Nestorians were reading the Old Testament all along and they were hearing about the Assyrians yet in almost 2,000 years it never occurred to them that these are their ancestors or that they are their "direct" descendants.

They either were never direct descendants of the ancient Assyrians to begin with but descendants of the many ancient peoples of Mesopotamia and a mixture of different people who were of the same faith and spoke Aramaic as their language. Either way we put it, the modern "Assyrianism" is a very recent invention and it has no real basis to claim that the Church of the East Christians of today are the direct descendants of Ashur Banipal. The ancient Greeks were mixed, the Romans were mixed and even the children of Israel, contrary to what some fanatics like to believe, were also a mixture of peoples who became unified by common religion. Being a follower of Judaism does in no way mean that the person is a direct descendant of the Prophet Moses(as) or Suleyman(as). Judaism was at one point a religion which had missionary activity and seeked converts no doubt about it. That is why there are Jews who come in different colors, shapes, appearances and even speak a different language from one another. No doubt there were Jews who settled in Europe, etc but they also spread their faith by seeking conversions and even intermarried with others.

Just because one is a Jew by faith, one does not automatically become an Israelite just as a Muslim is not an just an Arab or has claims to Saudi Arabia. There are of course some Jews who acknowledge this and there are Jews who never been to Palestine nor had any plans to live there. I have a Jewish friend from Uzbekistan and one could not distinguish him from the rest of the Uzbek peoples whether Muslim or not. He is Jewish by faith, he recites the shema in Hebrew daily and conducts his prayers in the Hebrew language but does not over all speak Hebrew as his native language nor have I heard him claim to be the grandson of Jacob.

People are mixed and in the end we are still humans. we are born, and we die, we eat, sleep, use the bathroom and laugh or cry. We also have the same basic needs. I find it absurd to acknowledge that the Chaldeans of today are not truly descendant of the ancients while at the same time denying their claims yet we expect everyone to accept our claims when we are in worse position than them. If the Suryoye are denied their right to call themselves Arameans or as they say "Oromoye" what right do we have o9r what proof do we have to claim direct descent of Ashur Banipal while not having anything in common with him. I may identify as Assyrian and I love the ancients but I will never go as far as claiming that I am a direct descendant or that only I have such right. I can call myself whatever I want but it don't really mean anything. The Christians, on the other hand, have a totally different agenda in mind.

The west has been doing this all over the world. They are absurd enough to believe that a modern Copt of Egypt is a direct descendant of the ancient Egyptians but deny the Muslim Egyptian the same right. In reality neither of them are purely Egyptians or direct descendants of the Pharaohs. The ancient Egyptians were a dark skinned people and even Black skinned with African features. The white man finds difficulty in recognizing this so they wish to label the Christian Egyptians as the true descendants when they are not. This is done in Lebanon too where the Christians are labeled as descendants of the Phonecians while the Muslims are Arabs who settled there and the same thing has been done with Palestinians.

It is even recognized by the Israeli government that the modern Palestinians are also natives of the land and they actually have a better chance of being descendants of the ancient Israelites than the Western Jews who only recently settled there. The Palestinians may speak Arabic, they may be Muslim, and they may even identify as Arabs but that doesn't take away their ethnic descent. No one stays pure over a period of thousands of years and people don't just forget their identity like that. The modern Assyrians are not directly descendants of Ashur Banipal but they are descendants of the many ancient peoples who lived in Mesopotamia and speak Aramaic as their native tongue. We admit that the Chaldeans accepted a name that is not really theirs while we refuse to admit that we have done the same. being born in a region or speaking a language doesn't make one an ethnic of that country. A turk being born in Germany doesn't make him an ethnic German. He may speak German, he may be born there and even have German citizenship but he is still Turkish by ethnicity.

In our case, our people were Christians who spoke Aramaic and had no "Assyrian" or "Babylonian" identity. If anyone has the best case in my opinion, it would have to be the modern Suryoye who call themselves "Arameans". If we go to what is now the ruins of Babylon(Hilla), we will find that the inhabitants of the land are Shitte Arabs and they even refer to themselves as descendants of Babylonians. They wouldn't go as far as claiming this name to themselves exclusively but there is no doubt that they have some relation or ties with the ancients. Just as today our people intermarry and mix with others, the same can be said about previous generations and especially before the Brits came. Therefore, the modern Assyrian identity is a hoax and a few have made a living or become "heroes" by hiding behind this business. A little digging into them and we find that it is nothing more than a bigoted version of Christianity and a group of religious fanatics who are using this name as a cover up. It is identical to how the church, popes and Christians hide behind Jesus and cover up the reality about their origins and history.

I have nothing against the ancients and I would love to be a direct descendant of them but I think I am being unrealistic if make such claims or worse than that start begging to the White man for something that is supposed to be mine. I don't believe in begging nor bowing down to anyone. If injustice is being done, I believe in standing up to it. I try to stop it either by mouth or by hands but never will I lower myself nor embarrass myself by behaving like an asshole and go asking a swine eating Brit, American or Australian for that. The White man, especially the Anglo, is no position to hand out lands or speak about "right" because he is in the biggest violation of that. In fact he is in position of stolen properties while having the blood of millions of innocent peoples on his shoulders.
