...I don;t remember if Orwell covered this but one result of deliberately undermining confidence in news, or facts, is that people will begin to believe what they always wanted to anyway....it isn't that they'll stop believing everything....instead they will come to believe their own prejudices as fact, since, "they are all liars anyway"......you have to believe SOMEBODY...so, why not yourself? At least you know you aren't lying to yourself (you think).

...what happens if, in an Information Age, people stop believing information?
