...that even though we too have blown children apart and severed body parts, that we are "significantly different", meaning better, than the other side.

Are we? Taking Maher at his word, that Islam and many Muslims are horrible, what other kind of behavior would you EXPECT? According to him these Muslims, and their religion, are behaving JUST as you would expect such "backwards" and "violent" people to behave...in other words,as horrible as they are, there should be no surprise...they are acting par for their course.

But, what about us? We are not like them, so says Maher...we are much better....do we live up to our press, the way Muslims live up to theirs (according to Maher)? Do we, the "best" really want to compare ourselves with the WORST..and if we do, are we really pleased and heartened to find out we are better? Shouldn't we BE better, as a matter of course?

But, it turns out we aren't better, we are worse, because the distance from what we think our better selves is and what we do in terms of violence, is much farther than the distance between the worst of what Muslims supposedly are, and what they do. We, in other words, are the once behaving worse, not Muslims.

How quickly we have forgotten that we attacked, occupied and killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims...and how much we make of the violence of people whom we unjustly attacked and whose families we devastated based on lies and oil. How quickly we want to forget or, soon, will say and write that it never happened..or use current Muslim desire for revenge and retaliation as the ex post facto reason we must have been right in attacking them, before they could "attack us"...as we now claim they are doing and ONLY because of Muhammad, not for our many crimes against them and theirs..
