To PA nationalism and the Christian Seats

I'd like to put passion aside, and ask you to listen to some logics.

The Assyrians in Iran have gone done in the statistical figures in Iran from 75000 in 70s to less than 10000 to date.
The latest official figure made public was in 1990-91, given the number of Assyrians (of all faiths) in Iran just under 12000.

Since 1990 to date, 20 years ago, the Assyrians have taken refuge in Western countries in n escalating record rate.
In the last Iranian parliamentary election, which was rigged, BK was elected as one of 5 RELIGIOUS MINORITY reps.
The Iranian constitution allows for 5 RELIGIOUS MINORITY Representation as follow:
1. An Armenian MP, representing Armenian Christians in Centre and North.
2. An Armenian MP, representing Armenian Christians in South.
3. An Assyrian-Chaldean MP, representing Assyrian-Chaldean Christians.
4. A Jewish, representing Jewish community.
5. A Zoroastrian, representing Zoroastrian community.

Now, this is how the Iranian constitution dictates, and that is how it is, whether we (in general) like it or not. This so-called religious seat has been set in Iranian constitution for more than 50 years (even during king Pahlavi).

We ALWAYS have been known as religious minority, not only in Iran but in entire Middle East.

Even Iraq, and after the fall of Sadam, in its constition has given us a "religious" recognition. We have not given a "national" recognition. They never will; not in Iran, Iraq, syria, or anywhere in Middle East for that matter.

You and so many others falsely are trying to stick this "stigma" to ADM, and Younatam Kanna.

It has nothing to do with ZOWWA. It has nothing to do with Younatan Kanna.

Entire Middle East is "religious orientated".
Politics in Entire Middle East is religious orientated.
Islamic States, be it laic or not, are religious orientated and they ALWAYS treat non-Muslims as RELIGIOUS MINORITIES.

That is how they treat us, religious minority.

You can jump up and down, jump of the State bridge, organize rallies, and....It won't change anything.

How in the earth, then, you claim it is the ADM and its secretary general's fault to be given the parliamentary seat as it is set.

In Iran as well as in Iraq, this is the only way we can be heard (if any). This is the only way the people who still live there can have a say or be represented.

How in the earth can you (or anyone else) dare to say otherwise if you live in your comfort in the west?

You want to make change, it is so easy, go there and represent us as ASSYRIANS.
Will you dare?
Could you do it?

Let me provide you with a copy-paste of a 19 years old Assyrian female who posted it in another forum. Read it; it will be a wake up call for you and so many so-called ultra nationalist who only dare to move their fingers on the keyboard. That is how far your nationalism goes. Then don't shovel your hypocritical nationalism down our throat.

Here are the brilliant words of an 18 years old Assyrian female:

If a mother leaves her children and disappears, people will say, "She is not a mother". I say, "If a Nationalist leaves his country, he is not a Nationalist!".

So with all due respect, I don't think I am ready to be an 'Umtaneta' and probably never will be. Not because I don't like my community, I have alot of respect for my heritage but this title demands the utmost commitment and dedication which I am not prepared to sacrafice.
I am not willing to bear the burden of this title if I can't come up with the goods.

The world Nationalist should not be used for every Tom, Dick and Harry who says "I'm Assyrian and I will die for my country". The only Nationalist would be my Assyrian brother that gets killed fighting for HIS country as a Nationalist AND a Patriot on home soil.

You are not a Nationalist because you say you are. You are a Nationalist by what you do.
So to all those chest thumping Assyrian Nationalists, the ones who talk alot and do so little, pack your bags, Iraq is waiting for YOU.

With all due respect to you and your 18-yr old Assyrian friend. The Diaspora is what puts the pressure on the powers that be and what happens in Iraq, Iran, etc., not the ones there who are enslaved and can't open their mouths. It's also the Diaspora's money that supports those in the homeland and lobbies for their rights.

....just have to jump in here...if the assyrians back there are "enslaved and can't open their mouths", why has Maggie been yelling at them for years to SPEAK OUT...and make DEMANDS? The assyrians in their diapers don't pressure anyone and they don't lobby anyone, all they do is fight each other using their LOVE of assyria as their excuse and weapon of choice.

It is childish and immature to seperate the two communities.

In Response To: Re: To PA nationalism and the Christian Seats (Maggie Yonan)

With due all respect, it is childish only if people assume it is seating in the comfort of the so-called diaspora and nag and nag by pressing the keyboards that Ashur will rise again.

It is childish to assume it is diaspora and its indifference new generation that will lead us.

Just because people live in the so-called diaspora where the western powers exist it does not mean that striking some keys on the keyboard will change the course of history or write the foreign policies for the elite power.

And talking about money; what major money has been distributed to ATRA, and by whom?

The so-called intellectuals of the diaspora are incapable organizing a national found; something not only Jewish communities around the world has been doing for centuries but also the youngest nation in the world achieved managing such found even before the birth of their nation, that is East Timorese.

When people will wake up from their polar bare winter sleep and smell the spring?
The so-called ultra nationalists and the leaders of diaspora have difficulty convincing their children to speak Assyrian and act as Assyrian, let alone to organize proper lobbying or political movement in support of our people in ATRA.

Once again the brilliant words of a 19 years old female Assyrian which no ultra nationalist in the so-called diaspora have an answer to her plea:
Please re-read her words till end.

""The world Nationalist should not be used for every Tom, Dick and Harry who says "I'm Assyrian and I will die for my country". The only Nationalist would be my Assyrian brother that gets killed fighting for HIS country as a Nationalist AND a Patriot on home soil.

You are not a Nationalist because you say you are. You are a Nationalist by what you do.
So to all those chest thumping Assyrian Nationalists, the ones who talk alot and do so little, pack your bags, Iraq is waiting for YOU""

Anyone cries ASHUR ASHUR, here is your ONLY choice;
"""pack your bags, Iraq is waiting for YOU""

Till then no one will take you seriously.
Thank God , some of our younger generation still have common sense and understand the difference between dreaming and reality.

With all due respect you're a waste of time.

We said the same things 40 years ago and you're just a little too late.

We started working a different way, so that the ADM, the AUA and all the other BADDEELEH won't be one step ahead of us and destroy what we are secretly building in the DIASPORA.

..."secretly building"???? Is Maggie now Cristine O'Donnell too? What pure, unadulterated bullshit in response to a heartfelt and serious critique.

Go to sleep now...........wait, I have something new to tell you, which is not a secret, but a wonderful and hopeful sign for all the so-called "indifferent" Assyrians:

The other day, my beautiful and brilliant six year-old nephew told his parents who have enrolled him at Larsa Assyrian church school: "I'm sick of bible study...I want to learn how to speak the Assyrian language."

I still have tears in my eyes.

...croc tears to go with the rest of her crock.

ADM was so proud to call for "recognizing the Assyrian identitty as NATIONALITY"

When did ADM work for this since the fall of Saddam ?

....when did you?

As for Assyrian nationalist to go to Iraq, they will go back only when ADM stops asking for Diaspora money and votes.

What money and how much have you sent to ATRA?

You and Maggie, with your dreaming ideas never could convince those who usually praise you. You could not convince them to stop participating in the election; could not get anyone to support your childish boycott of the election.

Another thing that you and Maggie never dare to do is to go to ATRA; work there and reside there permanently.
Your childish idea of "I only go if ADM step aside" is just lam excuse, and very idiotic, to be honest.

You never dare to go. It needs proper commitment and proper sense of nationalism which keyboard heroes such as you never can even dream about.
