...the media love "controversy", so long as it really doesn't change anything...they frame their reports in such a way as to gain maximum traction which means hooking readers and viewers so they'll visit a site as much as possible to drive up ad revenue....

....a good example is the current religious freedom nonsense with Kim Davis and Gay marriage...to date no one has defined what religious "freedom" means...so people go on and o/n discussing it as if all sides, or any sides, knew what they and the other side were discussing.

...freedom, any freedom, means doing as you can without hurting another...that's close enough. No one has denied Kim Davis the freedom to practice her religion....no one keeps her from her church or from her faith or anything else....if she wants to define her freedom as blocking someone else's then she has a problem...if her religion says a Gay American may not marry another Gay American, then she is wrong...her freedom doesn't extend to denying freedom to anyone else, especially those protected by Law.

If we tried to force her to marry a woman, then we would be attacking her freedom to choose and of religion.

When she took office the Law did not allow Gays to marry...while she was in office the Law changed and Gays could marry...her first obligation, on earth, is to the people who pay her salary and her oath of office.....there was nothing in her oath of office which said if any new Law came along she was free to disobey it if it clashed with her religion.

She is free to make her religion supreme and go work for any religious organization she wants...but she isn't free to use her religion as a reason to not do her job....we don't care about her religion, whatever it is...we only care that she does her job....which is what she's paid for, her job, not her religion.

If the argument was framed intelligently and accurately there would be nothing to argue about.
