...Ashur has never dared answer me directly...all his posts are to Rashad who has had no trouble dismantling him...I guess two of us at the same time would be asking for too much from a guy named ashur....since he makes a point of passing over all my questions to him I'm going to respond to him separately so it's more obvious that he's avoiding several issues....

The John Speed map is dated 1623, or something close. About that time most people believed the sun revolved around the earth, so let's not give them too much credit for detailed knowledge...but even so, what does the mention of Assyrians or Assyria as part of the Ottoman Empire prove? Once upon a time Gaul was part of the Roman Empire...where is it today?

In Speed's day people read their bibles and in them they read about Assyrians and scholars of that day knew where ancient Assyria was....how does that make this ashur a relative of the ancients? It doesn't. Rashad already dispensed with this bit of trickery by pointing out that

a. No one has ever denied the existence of Assyria in ancient times

b. The actual issue at hand is how the existence of Speed, his maps, the bible, and any photographs of Aprim standing in front of Assyrian antiquities proves that Aprim and ashur are related to the ancients?

This is something ashur perfectly understands, but he can't answer it...plain and simple.

Then there's the infamous DNA study which we've discussed several times...actually some past hero sent me the entire study and challenged me to read all of it....I did, knowing full well he hadn't. It states very clearly that this study's results are only good for the last 500 years...beyond that they tell us nothing about anything.....furthermore the study does not, as all these people believed or hoped, does not prove anything about our DNA being connected, or not, to Ashurbanipal's DNA...to do that we'd need a sample of DNA over 2500 years old and it's well known DNA doesn't last that long...not even close.

So, what does this much misunderstood DNA study show? It can show people, such as Americans, who might be doubt, where their ancestors came from and what regions they traveled through on their way. An American of today, knowing vaguely that he is descended from Scotch-Irish-French-Spanish-Italian-Norweigian-Swedish and African stock can narrow his ancestry down by matching his DNA to the DNA of those various groups and their REGIONS to see where his ancestors came from, for the last 500 years only,,,,this is meaningful to people who don't know whether or not there was a Russian in the family tree...or if that ancient ancestor really was pure Irish, or Irish at all.....by matching the DNA common to THAT REGION with his own.

My eldest son participated (anyone can by getting a kit and taking a swab of saliva for analysis) and found his ancestors came from Europe and the MidEast...big fucking deal, I could have told him that....

The question for ashur isn't whether his ancestors of 500 years ago came from Mesopotamia or Australia...we already know we come from the land known ages ago as Assyria, or its empire. We'll grant him that..as we'll grant every Iraqi Muslim the same....how does this study in any way provide a link between this ashur and Ashurbanipal? In his dreams only.
