...Western Christian missionaries cross over the Ottoman borders at will saying out loud that they have come to get the Nestorians back to what they used to do so well: become missionaries themselves, but, not to spread Christianity to China or India but rather harass and bother their Muslim neighbors and insult them too by telling them their religion, Islam, is a delusion and their holy Prophet a mad man, a charlatan a child molester etc.

Even if only a handful of Nestorians agree to this suicide mission, this arrogant bit of self-righteousness, that would be all it would take to arouse Muslim hostility and suspicion of them all.

I've no doubt either that promises were made that if the Muslims should retaliate, the Western countries from which these missionaries came would step in to "protect" the "persecuted Christians" who, after all, were only doing what their god told them to, so how can you hold anything against them?

This is the devil's bargain the Church made with the State....we will go in and stir up trouble, and then you come in to "protect" us...never mind that the first stone was cast by the foreign missionaries...it's another example of Christian ideas about themselves: that they can do what they want so long as they bring Jesus with them, and no one has the right to complain or take action because if they do, they are "persecuting" Christians.

In an odd but completely understandable way they bring Jesus with them too when they molest children...often right there in the church, or choir, or confessional....it is probably the "sexiest" place a priest can imagine to take off a child's pants and fuck them....and it's the safest too because Jesus is there to forgive them...after all, isn't his father the world-famous forgiving God?
