...one of the links is to a scholarly article about Roman times and the province called Assyria...when our nationalist boasts that these links have "sources" he is being deceptive...yes, for all the factual statements there are indeed references..but this is where wikipedia does a disservice because at the very end of the article the writer adds this...

"The native Assyrian people of the region had begun to adopt Christianity by Trajans time, and still retained eastern Aramaic as a spoken and literary tongue, as they do to this day."

There is no SOURCE provided for this satement..it is again just an opinion of the one who pacthed together this article in which he was careful to include sources for OTHER statements of fact...but nothing for this one, which is after the entire reason he even bothered to begin. No one argues or cares to argue about what the Romans did with Assyria...and all the legitimate sources for statements about what they did with Assyria are fine...but, for the weak-headed a statement is added at the end, a statement based on nothing more than what the compiler (you canīt call him a writer) believes and thought that by starting off with a lot of scholarly reference to ancient history he could slip and slide his way into mentioning that Assyrians still exist TODAY.
