...the 14 year old gunned down by a cop for holding a toy gun...a cop who went free because he "feared for his life"...not half as much as Blacks fear for theirs but that's another story.

Killing a person the first time is one form of murder...killing any memory of his murder is a second murder.

...it's very understandable that the boy's mother wants that kiosk where her son was playing, before being murdered, torn down...(and how happy the whites are to oblige). It's understandable but a mistake. It's like agreeing to never use the word "nigger" again....plays into white hands and mouths who then speak of a post-racial America where the only racists are Blacks who "play the race card".

"I mean we stopped SAYING the word, what more do you people want"?

That kiosk should remain as a symbol and reminder, not dismantled and removed form the public eye. Better yet a monument of children playing should have been erected with a plaque commemorating the murder of Tamir for ages to come.

People want to forget bitter memories...but where racism in America is concerned THAT is the bitter memory and legacy...and we should not let white America forget it....what was done to Tamir isn't America's "bitter memory"..white America is even more eager than the boy's mother to "put that behind us", but for the wrong reason....they want to forget racism exists, or rather they want Blacks to forget it...white America and the boy's mother are both grieving, but for different and quite divergent reasons.

That killing should be enshrined in the memory of the country, not erased.
