...Semelewas not "persecution". Those villagers weren't killed by the Iraqi army because they were Christian...they sure as hell weren't killed because they were Assyrian. Give us a break. They were killed in an act of colective punishment, always a terrible thing, in response to the intransigence of some of the Assyrian refugees which Iraq had taken into it's territory for their own protection...in part because of the Levies who went to work as collaborators with the hated British and also because of a recent riot by the Levies in which innocent Iraqis were killed and, finally, because a group of the Marshimun's followers, who refused to accept the Iraqi governments offers of housing and settlement...took it upon themselves to cross the border into Syria, with guns, in the hope that Syria, under the control of the French Christians, would "do something for us".

I don't know if you know, or care, what the word "sedition" means. Historians and politicians do.

When the Assyrians realized their error and started to cross back into Iraq, the army demanded that they turn in their weapons...they refused and shooting started...men were killed on both sides. You have to remember this was still wartime...the Great War had barely ended, the treaty with Turkey had not been signed yet, everything was still up in the air, the British were looking for an excuse to come back in, something the Iraqi government did not want to happen and it had BEGGED the Assyrians not to cause disturbances as a pretext, which many Assyrians WANTED to do in hopes that the Brits would come back and "save" them... the British had taken it upon themselves come back anyway, on exactly that pretext, to occupy Iraq...the refugee Assyrians, who'd come to Iraq from Turkey and Iran, and were NOT "indigenous", were refusing to coperate with the government, insisting that the British had promised them whatever and generally behaving like the barbarians we see at conventions...you tell me what a band of refugees in America, who take up rifles and cross the frontiers at will and refuse to put down their guns and then engage in shooting battles with American police and military can expect.

Remember David Koresh and his sect in Waco? Koresh was wanted for a traffic ticket...and the FBI raided his compound with firebombs and killed 90 innocent people...most of them children...burned to death...remember the 1970s? Remember the American Indian Movement and what happened to its leaders when they demanded their indigenous lands back...and took over Alcatraz Island and some other areas? The FBI, National Guard, police, sherrifs and marshalls all descended on their reservations, killed the leaders and imprisoned scores of people...because; it is ILLEGAL to teach or preach that the legitimate and sitting government of your country is illegally witholding rights from its citizens...and to agitate on that basis..it is ILLEGAL and those involved in such acts or talks are committing criminal acts...doesn't matter how right THEY think they are...or what their parents and shamaans told them...it's against the LAW!

The Iraqi army was within its rights, as America will tell you, in gunning down those returning Assyrians as they fled to their villages...about 100 of them were shot wherever they were found...as George Washington would have been hanged by the Brits the minute they caught him, as a traitor he wouldn't even get a trial, or a firing squad but be hung by the neck like a dog from the nearest tree...that's the way the world works, you see.

Unfortunately the Iraqi army decided to get the message out once and for all...so they took 300 innocent civilians, we think they were innocent, plus a woman and three children...and shot them dead. A terrible crime...but one which all governments are guilty of at times...look at the United States...not ONE Iraqi was among those 19, but ALL the Iraqi people have been punished for it. If it's okay for a Christian nation to murder over one million Iraqis, at least...for no crime any of them committed...then why call Iraq names for killing far, far less? At LEAST the Iraqis were justified in part because the Assyrians HAD committed crimes..they HAD broken Iraqi law...they were GUESTS in the country...and look at how they behaved. What had Iraqis done to America?

Whenever Christians were punished by Muslims it was as a result of the laws they broke...and not for their religion. Let me remind you again that Iraq is filled with churches and has been since the Arabs came...Christians lived and still live side by side in friendship with their Muslim brothers and sisters...except for the few who insist they have a claim on Iraq...and who USE stories of "persecution" to fool foreigners into feeling sorry for them.

I challenge you again to give ONE instance when a Christian was killed JUST for his religion...the period of time that this war has been going on doesn't count...because for one thing if anyone is being persecuted BECAUSE of their religion, it is the Muslims and not the Christians....feelings are running high against the Christians now, as they always have, whenever the Christians have cheered and encouraged attacks against their country in the belief that foreign Christians will "do something" for them...because they share a religion....many many more Muslim collaborators have been killed than Christians....those Christians being killed for collaboration deserve it and asked for it...the entire world knows and despises collaborators who sell out their own countries...summary execution has ALWAYS been the approved method of dealing with such swine. When you make HEROES of them, you make Iraqis even angrier...it's as if you APPLAUD and cheer the destruction of their country...that if it can't be the way YOU want, then it might as well be destroyed...it "deserves" to be destroyed.

But before this war...name a time when Christians in Iraq were killed JUST because of their religion...go on...or will you now decide that "I don't want to waste my time"?
