Navy ship fires on boat in Persian Gulf

"A U.S. military supply ship fired Monday at a small boat in the Persian Gulf after it came too close, apparently killing one person on board the boat, U.S. officials said."

...wait, a US ship is in the Persian Gulf...that's PERSIAN Gulf....and THEY get to decide what is "too close"? How close are they to Iran??? Can an Iranian ship troll around in Chesapeake Bay and then fire on a Coast Guard Cutter because the US boat got "too close"?

..what kind of idiots are we? Is this enough of a "Gulf of Tonkin" these days? Do we more blatantly go to war these days...without even a pretext of justification any more? The last time the US was actually attacked was by Japan some 70 years ago...yet we've been using "defense" as an excuse to run wars around the world.
