Of course we should be helping people right now. But by itself...and we are prone to just apply band-aids, it will be less than effective. And yes, the north of Iraq is "different". That's a trick from the Cold War too...make up a new country like North Vietnam and North Korea...then get one side to fight the other...chumps fall for it every time.
Interesting long artcle in the San Francisco Chronicle tonight about Christians in Iraq. Only mentioned Chaldeans and "other" Christians...way to go Peter and John and Firas and all of you who wish to keep us a secret.
It was well written and fairly presented. Two Christian Iraqi women said Muslims and Christians get along...the bishop said many Christian families are keeping Muslim families alive...but all agreed that Christians in the West were not acting like Christians at all. Silly people! Even Mar Ivrahim of Detroit was quoted.
note: Assyrian religious leaders were at each other's throats and couldn't speak at the time the paper went to press...on account of fingers wrapped around them.
I'm sure the article is syndicated...one of you sharp young things find it and post it for all to read...good stuff. At least the CHALDEANS get mentioned...but that's probably because they know how to SPEAK!!!
