As far as Castro and my family's background, no- that is not what opened my eyes to the political world. My eyes were never closed. I have family in different regions in the world, not just Cuba, who I am in touch with. It would be nearly impossible for me not to see things the way I do regarding politics. My family's background is only one of a number of reasons as to why I see the world the way I do.
About the rifle, I have it mainly for security/comfort. It's good to know I have a reliable weapon that is accurate and fires many rounds in case I ever need it. Our house has already been broken into once, but we weren't home when they did. It's a shame people enter other people's homes to steal things when the owners probably worked hard for it. Oh well, that's basically it.
By the way, Sadie, if you ever go on vacation or travel to visit your family in another country, whether or not you have already, I think you would be quite surprised with the perception others have of the US. I mention this because I consider it a norm to view things the way I do politically, albeit, not the case in the US. I was wondering whether you were aware as to how drastic the actual difference in view points regarding US foreign policy is in other countries. I know you know they view it differently, but it is downplayed in the US. In other countries, at least where I have gone, it is almost a fanatical opposition to the US. You would be quite surprised I think...I mentioned this only because it seemed to me you were a bit surprised as to how I view things politically. That's all:)
Have a good day
