My friend's Mexican co-worker has lived here in Michigan for 8 years. Every 6 months he goes back, gets a paper signed, and comes back to Michigan. This time they stopped him at the border on a technicality and his life stopped. All of his belongings are here, etc. but he is not allowed to reenter the US for 5 years. Same as the guy you mentioned...honest, hard working, etc. The aftermath of the war on terror... only it's on going...forever and ever amen.
