: Shlama Ashur,
: Peter Bet Basso from the AINA forum deleted my posts the last time I asked the most simple and most basic of questions to the people who visit AINA.
: The question was, "Do Assyrian-Muslims exist?"
: After asking this question my posts were deleted and I was pretty much told to discontinue the line of questioning or I would be banned.
: As for the Kurds let me just inform you of something that you may not be aware of.
: The majority of the Kurds in Iraq itself are of Assyrian descent. Barzani himself and his bloodline were in the mountains with us Tkhumaye only 100 years ago fighting in alliance with us against the other Assyrian tribes such as the Tyaraye, see Bader Khan Beg massacres.
: Now for the shocking truth that few want to hear. Simko, the guy who ambushed and murdered Mar Shimun, himself was of Assyrian descent and would call Mar Shimun Father before WW1 and would even be seen kissing his hand!
: Are you beginning to understand what we've just realised. We are in a battle not for cultural and linguistic survival not physically threatened by so-called enemies. We are our own worst enemies. The Kurds are also our people and what we need to do is find a way to live with them peacefully in our land where they constitute the majority. Our struggle should not be a naive physical armed conflict attempting to reconquer a Christian homeland, repeating the Jewish mistake. Our struggle should be a cultural and linguistic revival of our language and culture amongst our people first and foremost and eventually amongst our people who have become Kurdified and Arabised. But our brothers in Iraq, the Kurds and the Arabs, should not have our culture and language forced upon them like Saddam tried to do with Arabism. It should be offered as a valuable piece of their unique cultural and historical mosaic that is Iraqi. Also we as Assyrians should make attempts to appreciate our modern Kurdish and Arab culture and languages realising that our ancient Assyrian ancestors also respected each cities chief deity and would pay homage and show respect to each religion and god they came across. Only in this way can we rebuild Iraq and heal the religious and sectarian scars that have scarred us all these many centuries.
