: I do want to say that one must acnowledge the incredible reach our constitution and bill of rights have had on other countries, and the world in general.
xxx On Sept 16, 1987 the U.S. Senate passed a resolution stating that the U.S. Constitution was explicitly modeled upon the Iroquois Confederacy.
: Imagine everyone's surprise in high school "US Government" class when the teacher explained that it is the DUTY of the American people to rise up against their government should it ever become corrupt and oppressive. With the freedoms and rights that we are given, comes that resposibility.
xxx Yeah, but didn't those teachers also teach you how corrupt the founding fathers were? The Constitutional Assembly squabbled over everything they could - each person had his own agenda. Some wanted slavery to persist & others didn't.
xxx I'm NOT arguing against the duty of citizens to rise up against their government. In fact, I'm arguing that the motives for government action have always to be taken into account. I think there has always been propaganda & manipulation.
