...I don`t think the boys understand democracy...not as a principle and not as a reality. The natural response is, "what DO they understand that they would understand this"?

..Democracy is mob rule...you just hope for the best mob you can get. It is NOT "let`s be fair to everybody" rule. It is a government of the majority...more or less imposed on everyone else...like it or not. Its saving grace depends on how well educated and decent the people are. Germany had a Republic and democracy when Hitler was voted into office..he didn`t have to seize power..the mob WANTED him..the Christian mob that is...Jews were not convinced...and there was no "surprise" the next morning...Hitler had spelled out exactly what he wanted to achieve in that nasty little book of his...it didn`t take much to guess that if you want to "eliminate people"...you`re going to kill them...the details can be worked out later.

Just like we were going to "liberate" Iraq..what that actually would come to mean we could deal with later..on the genral principle that we will even kill you to liberate you, you`re liberaton being THAT important to us!...as in Vietnam we burned down people`s homes and entire villages in order to "save them".

American democracy for most of the time it`s been in place has systematically excluded first poor men and ALL women as well as the Africans who BUILT America. The laws were heavily stacked against almost everyone, certainly the majority were NOT represented...it was a democracy of a kind, certainly, but nothing like the fairy tale the boys were counting on.

They keep saying things like..."The litmus test of Iraqi democracy will be if we, a Christian minority, roundly hated now more than ever, get a triangle". Come again? Why would that make democracy legitimate? Name any minority in America that could fairly expect such an outcome? Making nice with minorities is NOT any part of democracy...treating everyone fairly is also NOT a part of democracy...democracy means, simply, one person one vote...and the majority gets to determine policy...that`s all.

If we keep getting stupider white Christians running the show you`re going to see the limits of democracy REAL fast!
