...so at the AIDS committee meeting where they decided they dislike being made fun of more than they like to help poor Iraqis...someone could have reasoned thus...."we don't like being made fun of...we don't like Farid...but I don't see how, in good conscience, we can make our own feelings the most important thing here...how can we rationalize not accepting close to $30,000 in donated sculpture, we know we could sell, because we got our feelings hurt...even if he IS a bastard..and the next moment go plead with people that we REALLY need several thousand dollars more to meet our expenses? I'll bet the committee members were pissed at those Christians who used their own feelings towards Mar Bawi to NOT support AIDS this year...I bet they thought something like, "How CAN those people use their own dislike for a bishop to not send money to needy Iraqis"? So...what's the difference? Hasn't the committee acted JUST like those people...putting their own selfish feelings before the job they claimed to be dedicated to? Haven't they ALWAYS done that? isn't that the reason there's no support for anyone...isn't that the reason there are so many parties AND sects out there? because we are SO damn childish and immature and easily hurt that we fly apart and sunder at the slightest inconvenience to our fragile egos? And Narsai really had to go stick his head in the middle of all of this? I hate to think it...but maybe he's been motivated by the same desire...to see himself get HIS way...maybe that's why the committee felt safe in telling him they didn't care to increase their effectiveness by "promoting" me...maybe I'm competition for him as well? And maybe that's the reason I joined them all and want to get MY way...maybe someone should take us all out behind the woodshed and give us a good beating. Our priorities are all fucked up. --------------------- |
