what i meant (things added are in caps): but if some horrible thing were to happen in another Mid Eastern country, if it doesn't affect Israel, it almost doesn't matter TO AMERICANS. another example: things like this happen in Africa - are the Americans, or the majority of the US population, asked to care? why should they care? there is no vested interest, no blood loss on their side to remember. IMAGES OF STARVING/SUFFERING PEOPLE IN AFRICA HAVE DONE LITTLE TO INCREASE AMERICAN INTEREST IN AFRICAN NATIONS. the only way to get them involved is to present "facts" on human rights issues. OTHERWISE, THE AMERICAN PUBLIC HAS NO IDEA WHY THE SUFFERING OR STARVING IS OCCURRING.
