"In the instance of slavery and the death penalty, the greater concern for human life in Israel led to a MORE LENIENT ATTITUDE (emphasis mine)." ...got that? In Israel there is more LENIENCY than in BetNahrain. "In Exodus 21:29, not only is the repeat offending bull to be stoned to death, but the owner of the animal suffers the death penalty, too." ...so...bull AND owner get stoned to death...this is "lenient"? "In these instances, we can see that the greater concern for human life leads to a harsher position in ancient Israel." ...wait a MINUTE! They just said Israel was MORE lenient than BetNahrain...and now they admit to , "a harsher position in Israel"(?). What gives here? "not so in Babylonia where monetary payment suffices." ...you mean "monetary payment" is MORE or LESS lenient than stoning to death man and beast? Which is it? If Israel is more lenient...more lenient HOW...by killing animal and man? This is "more lenient" than a FINE? In one short paragraph all this crap abounds...and we, savage reader, have been buying this CRAP retail and wholesale and every way and every day. Assyrians my ARSE! --------------------- |
