...you know, a good sign of maturity is when you stop being "disheatened" and begin to ask if you ever had a reason to think you would NOT be. How much evidence does it take before we begin to seriously look in to these claims of ours?

..for instance, the AANF, which is everyone`s favorite whipping boy...we hear over and over again how it was formed with the "noble humanitrian" goal of making sure a Simele "never happened again"...or, "to help the survivors"...or, to "help Assyrians"...or to "Let the world know"...etc.

...the reason the AANF never did any of those things might just be because they were ALL bogus goals....all of them. The assumption being made is that Simele was a natural disaster, like an earthquake or something after which the survivors needed blankets and food...but it wasn`t that sort of disaster at all....just like the current war against the Iraqi people isn`t a natural disaster..it`s definitely man-made...so you have to look at the causes and see if ANY humanitarian organization can EVER "do something" in light of that.

...The Iraqi army unit responsible wasn`t out to murder all Christians..it wasn`t a Jihad...or ethnic cleansing....if it had been, not a single person would have survived and they would have gone on to other towns and continued the killing...so far in history the only people to create such a deliberate machine for killing an entire group are Christians....Germans to be specific but they were all in on it. No Muslim nation or army has EVER done such a thing.

...if you aren`t too far gone you`ll recognize that any country situated as Iraq was back then could not allow any band of armed men to crisscross their borders at will....and that at the least demands would be made for them to surrender their weapons....and if you take in the whole picture....you`d have to admit that Iraq was in no mood or place to tolerate such things....one war had just ended...the Brits had come back, after leaving behind a "king" of their choosing...and this little band of merry men told everyone and their brother that they were the littlest ALLY and FRIENDS of these same Brits...that`s a huge chunk of foolishness to begin with...and lest we forget, the MAJORITY of the Christians in Iraq were opposed to any of us getitng mixed up with the Brits at all...ever again. So it was hardly a mas movement...to join the Levies, I mean and become a colonial police force in the pay of an occupying power..and when the Brits left, as they always will....would it come as a surprise that there would be retaliation? And if those men thought to be cute and run to Syria...did they think there would be no retaliation against their villages..or that not ONE would be singled out...to make an example?

What happened to Fallujah? What did the Christians do in the Second World War to (Christian) villages in which they suspected SOME enemy were hiding...or using?

The real tragedy of Simele happened well before the army moved in...well before. It comes from our insistance on being SAVED...first by a Jew messiah and next by European Christians...our whole mindset is geared towards what OTHER`S might do for us...to SAVE us etc....we are eons away from taking personal responsibillity and abiding by the consequences.

The AANF was goofy and wrong from the git go...no amount of blankets or band-aids would "help"...and we can see today, when the AIDS people are STILL begging blankets and band-aids..only in greater numbers, that it did NOT help....in fact, you could say we have continued at the same stand and made things that much worse..because we refuse to see the ENTIRE picture..or like Shlimon, choose to define it our OWN way, archaically.

We have this thing about "democracy" too that gets in the way...why even that consummate fool Bush has said recently that education is the road to democracy...only he`s way off that road and driving for the bushes...all democracy is is COUNTING NOSES...that`s all. You can have a democracy of Cannibals or Hottentots or Klansmen or Nazis or Christians too...all that guarantees you is that if they vote to skin you alive, at least MOST of them felt that strongly about it.,....that`s all it is.

For "Assyrians" to have a democratic organization like an AANF...where they take such pride in VOTING a new president and officials every few months, promises nothing about what that agency can DO! Democracy in itself promises nothing...nothing.

Anyway....no amount of humanitarian aid to the Christians of Iraq is going to address the fundamental issue...which is that, for good reason, Christianity...as a RELIGION, is not trusted in Muslim countries....for VERY good reason.

The fundamental flaw in the whole shebang is that all those people wanting to HELP Christians in Iraq, are themselves glad as HELL they aren`t IN Iraq!!! So for starters they don`t even know what they`re talking about. Like the AIDS Society today...if those people really want to HELP those left behind they`d do one of two things at least...first off they`d be as critical as hell of any war against that region...and, they`d raise money to get the Christians OUT of harm`s way...not send MORE harm.

Narsai and everyone in his organization is so pleased their parents got them out of there...or pleased to have gotten themselves out...yet they all act as if they want nothing more than to return...and so, in order to have neighbors when they do..they insist that everyone else STAY right where they are...so "we don`t lose a presence"...never addmitting the obvious: that THEIR presence is way gone!!! And they wouldn`t have it any other way.

Organizations THAT out of touch with basic decency and good sense are ripe for corruption...for being infiltrated and ripped off....they certainly will never achieve their stated goals...the AIDS society doesn`t say they are here to dig wells in Iraq for no one to use..they say they want to "help Assyrians stay on the land". Well..it isn`t HELP when all the Assyrians who can are running for the exits...in fact it`s downright cruel to say,"we are here to help you, but ONLY if you stay in harm`s way...if you run to Jordan and relative safety, don`t expect food or blankets from us...those are reserved for the ones who STAY IN IRAQ"...sure, Narsai SAYS they`d love to help everybody but have limited resources so they have to coose "priorities"...well, the priorities sure aren`t the same as they figure for themselves...Narsai is desperate NOT to have to go live and raise kids in an Iraq...the Assyrians there are desperate to get OUT...they want to save their skins and families first...like Narsai wants to....but to get "helped" they have to, in effect, put their lives and the lives of their children at great risk...to get a food basket or two.

These people...all of them, don`t think straight to begin with...after that, everything goes wrong. The AANF was doomed to failure, not because not enough people will help it...but because it`s very inception and core purpose was uninspiring...not motivating...not founded on anything real..those who started it were dyed in the wool Christians, believing that all Islam is out to get them because they are Assyrians and everyone is AFRAID of Assyrians...or some such nonsense.

Simele was our OWN fault....given the lay of the land...things as they were...as they have always been somewhere and at some time...Simele was bound to happen....as sure as we started it....the Iraqi army ended it for us....really...how could it have played out differently?

But, stick around...we ain`t seen nothin yet.
